It explains the entered quote difference. It does not verify supplier documents, infer missing quantities, establish a fair market price or determine whether two products perform alike.

Matching, rounding and limits

Matching uses the same case-sensitive item ID, the same specification after trimming and collapsing whitespace, and the same unit after a small set of unambiguous synonyms. Descriptions may differ but must be reviewed. No board-foot, area, weight, pack-size or currency conversions are inferred.

Every line is quantity × unit price, rounded half up to cents. The quantity effect is the later quantity at the earlier price, minus the earlier line amount. The price effect is the later line amount, minus that same intermediate amount. This ordering reconciles exactly, including fractional quantities and prices.

Quantities accept six decimal places; unit prices accept four; fees accept two. All amounts are nonnegative. Zero is a recorded zero; blank is unknown. Quote totals are limited to $10 billion. A changed specification or unit is shown as a replacement, never a like-for-like price change.
